David Rogers co-founded ActorsTaxPrep in 2000. His own experience as an actor began in 1993, in New York City. For the previous twenty-five years, Rogers worked in the advertising agency business, and served some of the world's largest ad firms as a senior executive. Early in his acting career, drawn by both opportunity and weather, he became a refugee from the East Coast, immigrating to Los Angeles, where he has lived happily ever after.
A long-time member of AFTRA, SAG and AEA, outside of tax season he works in film, television, theatre and voice-over. His is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals, the National Society of Accountants, and has been registered with the California Tax Education Council since 2000. Rogers lectures extensively throughout the country on taxation issues affecting the entertainment industry, and is the author of several articles on the same subject matter.
Ed earned an Award in Taxation from the UCLA Extension Program and is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service.
As an Enrolled Agent, he specializes in tax preparation, tax planning and also audit representation before all Administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service.
Ed has taught Tax Compliance for the IRS VITA program at Orange Coast Community College and the Screen Actors Guild. He has also conducted "Basic Payroll Taxation for Businesses" and also "Better Business through Better Records" seminars throughout Southern California.
Most recently, Ed was invited to participate in an Internal Revenue Service Small Business Forum, where he offered suggestions on how the Entertainment Industry and Government Agencies can better work together.
Prior to his career in income taxation, Ed was an actor. He earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree in theatre from the University of Southern California. He has performed on the stage, in commercials and film, and has also done voice over and print work.
Ed is currently enrolled in the Personal Financial Planning Certificate Program at UCLA.
As an actor himself, Chris understands the challenges that industry professionals face during tax season. One of four Enrolled Agents on the ActorsTaxPrep staff, the EA designation allows Chris to represent clients in all tax matters, just like a CPA or tax attorney. Chris enjoys the adventure of preparing taxes and sees each return as an opportunity to help his client receive the most thorough tax preparation possible.
Originally from Minnesota, Chris has lived in Los Angeles for over ten years. Chris's favorite experience as an actor thus far has been having the opportunity to work with Chuck Norris.
Emily Churchill has been with ActorsTaxPrep for 6 season's and is now an Enrolled Agent with the IRS. Now having the EA designation, she can represent clients in front of the IRS along with tax preparation. Also being a working actor, she knows the ins and outs of the industry and can bring that knowledge to helping her clients. Originally from Springfield, IL, yes the home of The Simpsons, she has been in the industry from Chicago to LA and can be seen on your TV in numerous commercial campaigns.
Dolores Yañez was raised in a small town near Lubbock, Texas. She obtained her degrees in Spanish and Accounting at the University of Houston. While living in Houston, she worked for KPMG, one of the country's largest accounting firms. She specializes in expatriate and inpatriate tax returns, as well as foreign tax issues. She is an Enrolled Agent.
Dolores is fluent in Spanish, so she can be of assistance to any Spanish-speaking entertainment pros who need their taxes prepared, or who require assistance if they are undergoing an audit or are in the collection process with the IRS or any state tax authority.
She studied improv at UCB and is currently part of an improv troupe that performs all over LA. She has always enjoyed learning new tax laws and preparing tax returns. She is excited to be on board with ActorsTaxPrep to help individuals in the entertainment industry prepare their tax returns.
Bob is a CPA whose 40 years of experience have traversed the government and private sectors. He earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of South Carolina in 1973 after serving four years in the US Air Force as a Morse Systems Operator. After graduation, Bob joined the Internal Revenue Service as an internal revenue agent. While working with the IRS he earned his CPA license, and held several technical and managerial positions nationwide before retiring in 2004.
Since his retirement from the I.R.S., Bob has kept his tax skills sharp by working with accounting and tax firms in Florida and Alaska. His experience includes personal, corporate, fiduciary and partnership tax returns.
When Bob is not busy preparing tax returns, he enjoys traveling the country with his wife, building his cabin and fishing in Alaska, and visiting his children and granddaughter in Florida.
As the most senior preparer in the firm, Micah first came to ATP while working with the SAG Tax Assistance Program (formerly VITA) where he also chaired the committee.
As a performer, Micah’s first love is theatre though he has extensive work in most genres in front of the camera and does voice over work, too. A few of the other hats he wears include teaching business classes to actors and as an Executive assistant to producers, A.D.’s and casting personnel.
When he is not acting and doing taxes, Micah writes and also spends time doing volunteer work, mentoring, and as a life coach.
Zia Domic, who is originally from Vancouver, Canada, came to LA to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where she received an Associates Degree in Fine Arts. Having worked as an actor steadily over the past 15 years she was lured into the world of taxes by her good friend and long-time tax preparer, David Rogers. Zia lives in Burbank, CA with her husband, seven year old son, two cats & a Boston Terrier named Stella.
Zia is the manager of our Bookkeeping and Payroll department.

Jill Van Velzer
Jill Van Velzer settled in California in high school after a life spent moving all over the USA and Europe as an Air Force brat. After graduating top of her class from Pepperdine University, she dove headfirst into a busy and varied acting/singing career, which has taken her across the country and to three different continents (so far). In the last few years, she has made her living portraying a pole-dancing stripper, a Nazi sympathizer, a junkie punk queen, a librarian, and a 90-year-old deaf woman in a wheelchair . (And that’s just her musical theatre resume.)
Jill was recruited by ActorsTaxPrep in 2012, and is pleased to be the first person on the ATP staff to pass the IRS’s Registered Tax Return Preparer exam. She genuinely enjoys being able to help ATP’s clients unravel their taxes in the most accurate, thorough, and forward-thinking way possible.
When Jill’s not auditioning or preparing your taxes, she can usually be found watching “Star Wars,” reading C.S. Lewis, practicing guitar, or fantasizing about her next vacation to England. (Or Maui. She can never decide which.)
Craig is a long-time veteran with ActorsTaxPrep, serving clients in the areas of reception, appointments and general administrative responsibilities. Though he's lived in Los Angeles for almost twenty years, he is ever the Southern boy at heart, growing up in the great state of Mississippi. He has performed in a variety of film, TV, theatre and commercials over the years - and like all actors can't wait for his next part.
